TNDR Therapist Sharon Gunning

"If there is a blockage and it is painful upon exploration, it is a TNDR blockage. With the technique – a specific “massage” with the hands – the blockage disappears and of course with it the inflammation. As inflammation causes pain, then so does the pain. TNDR also helps to let the patient know that there is a blockage, as sometimes the brain does not recognize all the painful blockages in the body. When someone tells me that they have no pain, I always tell them to give me 10 minutes to find a painful blockage!" (SG, July 2015)

Sharon, you are a TNDR (Técnica Naturista Desbloqueante Regeneradora) Therapist. Can you explain what TNDR is and how it works?
TNDR is a natural technique which can be used in conjunction with any other therapy or medication – conventional or alternative. It works to unblock blockages (hence, “desbloqueante”) and regenerate (“regeneradora”) tissue, organs, muscles, etc., affected by the blockage. By reducing inflammation, any pain felt by the patient greatly diminishes or disappears, as does the blockage, thereby allowing the body to work correctly again. These blockages (I have never met anyone who doesn’t have them, by the way!) stop the blood flowing to the affected area properly, thereby stopping essential minerals etc.,  getting to the area. For this reason, surrounding cells, muscles, tissues, organs, etc., can become atrophied and the technique regenerates them at the same time as getting rid of the blockage. The great thing about the technique is that it has no side effects and it tends to work  quickly, so that the patient experiences an improvement from the first session.

What makes it a holistic therapy?
The technique uses the hands, special gloves and organic oil. It is not a  massage in the normal sense of the word, but a specialised technique. It is totally natural and has no side effects whatsoever and simply helps the body to heal itself.  Blockages  can be caused by either physical  or emotional reasons. In this way, then, it takes into account the whole body and mind, and is holistic.

Dr. Cayo Martín developed this new form of complementary therapy fairly recently. How popular is it in Spain?
Well, training is becoming more widespread in Spain, though there is no training at the moment outside the country. There are over 300 trained therapists around Spain (and in a few countries outside, like Germany and Ecuador, for example) and numbers are growing. Dr Martín is currently working in La Rioja, where he practises, for TNDR to become a practice in hospitals. In Catalunya where I live there are probably between 50 and 100 therapists, and more and more people are becoming aware of the treatment, mostly because of the good publicity given by patients who have been treated.

How did you first become interested in this technique?
I was a patient. I had had a back problem since adolescence which no other therapy had managed to resolve. Within about a year, it had completely resolved and from the very first session it was much better.  My husband suffered a twisted intestine, was admitted to hospital and when he left, they told him all was ok. When he had TNDR, the therapist told him that the blockages in his intestine meant that at any time, the problem could recur. He now receives TNDR every week (now from me!) and he has never been better. Our son also received TNDR which greatly helped a pain he had in his shoulder in a very short time – about 3 sessions. When I saw that all 3 of us felt so much better from TNDR and there was an opportunity to train, I took it!

Can TNDR therapy be used on babies and children?
Like many natural therapies, TNDR works extremely well on babies and children. The therapy gives great results very quickly with adults, but it usually works even quicker on children and babies, often within after the first session.

What common problems can be treated effectively with TNDR therapy?
Basically, anything which causes pain. If there is a blockage and it is painful upon exploration, it is a TNDR blockage. With the technique – a specific “massage” with the hands – the blockage disappears and of course with it the inflammation. As inflammation causes pain, then so does the pain. TNDR also helps to let the patient know that there is a blockage, as sometimes the brain does not recognize all the painful blockages in the body. When someone tells me that they have no pain, I always tell them to give me 10 minutes to find a painful blockage!

TNDR has been extremely successful with many pathologies. For example, joint, muscle, tendon and bone complaints (such as arthritis, sprains, hernias and contusions); respiratory conditions (such as pharyngitis, sinusitis, asthma, colds, bronchial conditions,  ear infections); circulatory problems (such as arrhythmias, tachcardia, premature ventricular contraction, leg ulcers and heart problems in general); the genito - urinary system (such as ovary, womb, bladder problems, male /female infertility);  nervous system disorders (such as anxiety, anguish, stress, depression, migraines, Menhier Syndrome, vertigo, tinnitus).  Any complaint which causes pain can be helped and treated by TNDR.

How long does it take to treat a problem?
It depends on many things – how long the blockage has been there, how big the blockage is. My back problem, for example, took just over a year to completely disappear (I had had it for about 30 years), but I felt relief from the first session. I have also treated some people that in 2 or 3 sessions the blockage has completely disappeared and I have been able to tell them that the treatment iis complete. What tends to happen is that the patient undergoes some weekly sessions (TNDR should never be done more than once a week), then every 2 weeks, until the patient is told that the blockages have truly disappeared. . It is important that the therapist tell the patient when the blockage has gone away, as the pain may go away, but the blockage may still be there, and it is important to finish treatment until the blockage has completely disappeared so that the problem does not recur.

Is TNDR therapy a permanent cure?
Yes, though that does not mean that blockages never come back. TNDR works on the deepest level of life: an energetic level, and anything – physical or mental – can cause blockages. TNDR works with the idea that there are 3 main areas – the head (which thinks about life- in other words, thoughts), the thorax (which feels life – feelings) and the belly (which generates life – governed by fear). Unsurprisingly, over 90% of pathologies and illnesses are related to the belly/ stomach/ intestine. For example, if a patient has a migraine, there will most likely be a link to the belly. So, of course, if the patient learns what makes him/her angry, afraid or stressed, for example, and works on it, the blockage will not come back. TNDR works with the idea that pain is our friend and lets us know which areas we need to work on. These 3 areas are the main areas, but the arms and legs - along with other areas considered important in TNDR- are also important.

    What services do you offer?
A typical session in my consultancy lasts about an hour. The first session consists of an exploration – about 10 minutes - , a TNDR diagnosis (where the blockages are in the body and what they are linked to) – about 5 minutes- and the technique. Following sessions consist solely of the technique which lasts about 45 minutes and in the last 10-15 minutes the patient receives Reiki from me (I am also a Reiki therapist), which is the only therapy which compliments TNDR, as both work on an energetic level. Reiki helps the body to help towards healing itself and aids the mind to focus on the parts that need healing.

What is the best way for people to contact you?
I work in Barcelona, in Sant Cugat del Vallès and in Piera (where I live). The best way for people to contact me is through my mobile ‘phone: 646 766 410. Leave an sms (as I am often working) with you name,  a contact number or email and I will get in touch as soon as possible – usually within 24 hours.
