  • Swans School

Centro Yoga Om, Vilanova i la Geltru Image

Ages 3-12. Founded in 1971, Swans schools aims to to create a stimulating child-centred environment, which promotes the highest levels of achievement and to enable all children to reach his or her full potential through the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum encompassing a variety of teaching and learning strategies.
The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, in English and based on the UK National Curriculum. The curriculum is designed to motivate each child to adopt an open, enquiring approach to learning. Many extra curricular activities are available. They also offer the Spanish curriculum at all levels, with special emphasis on the Spanish language in the Early Years. Further, an SFL course is offered to non-Spanish speaking children.
They offer a time-tabled programme of French throughout the school based on the Jolie Ronde and Metro schemes. German and Arabic are also available.
Children who need extra help with English are catered for by special TEFL courses.
The children also learn functional social English in liason with their class teachers, so that the TEFL work is in support of their class work they are taking and in consultation with their teachers, whose observations are relevant to how and what is taught. Individual and group work is offered - again motivation is the key ingredient and that is facilitated through the feel good actor: that lessons are fun and confidence is built through a very enthusiastic approach coupled with the class motto "use it or lose it".
The year ahead will be the 34th year of Swans School. We have much to look forward to. We are building our new school which will cater for the needs of students to baccalaureate level and allow them to continue their education until they´re 18.

"Our children are not students of St George´s School in Málaga during the academic year but they have attended the summer school for the last three years. Although we do not live near the school, we believe that it is important for them to spend July learning English in such a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Furthermore, the combination of English classes together with sporting activities including swimming mean that our children have the opportunity to get to know other children of the same age. They are still too young to attend residential summer camps and we feel happy in the knowledge that our children will be entertained whilst learning during the month of July. We think that this is a fantastic way for them to spend part of their holidays" (Francisco González, Father of two daughters and one son aged 11, 8 and 5, May 2011)

We have experienced, qualified teachers and assistants all equipped to tackle this challenge. Our teaching methods are such that students are able to participate fully in the lessons from their first day; we use visual clues, interactive computer software and extra adult support where necessary. W e also offer workshops to parents explaining how they can support the language development at home and ensure that the students feel secure and happy in their new environment and therefore more confident to explore the new language" (Headteacher Catherine Jolly, June 2010)

"I cant believe that a year has gone by when we said farewell to your
fabulous school. Josh has settled in extremely well to "big boy school" and this was
achieved mostly by the way he was taught by calpe in his first 4 years
with you. He gained confidence, understanding, respect and above all a happy will to
learn whilst he was in your care and this gave him the grounding to easily
adapt to his new and somewhat larger surroundings at his new school. His
results in his first year are well above average and he has progressed so
much further in his sporting achievements that he now needs to step up a
class and a year from his current year. This achievement we would put
solely down to you in the encouragement and level friendly discipline you
instilled in him. Whilst he enjoyed (and won) sports day, we shall never forget the Calpe
sports day on the beach and we really miss this. Please say hi to all of your staff who knew him and please do feel free to
use any part of this e mail for any marketing purposes. Thank you so much for all your help in helping Josh to become the boy he
    is today"

"My daughter is very happy at this school. She is growing confident in herself and becoming an independent person while she keeps developing her full potential. Being surrounded by different nationalities has helped her to learn, respect and understand other cultures and to make a lot of new friends. All the staff are amazing, and that includes the teachers, the assistants, the cook, the secretary, the gardener, the bus drivers, they are all involved in making their daily life an enjoyable experience. I know that every day they do their best caring for and understanding the children. The school also offers lots of extracurricular activities where children have the opportunity to discover things they really like, such as: theatre, dance, chess, art and crafts, other languages, football, basket ball, swimming and many others. They also have fantastic summer camps where children can go on kayaks, trips and many other unforgettable experiences that also help them to be more independent people. I almost forgot to say that CBS School is located in a magnificent natural environment within a beautiful pine wood. We loved the place the minute we set foot on it.We are grateful to this school for helping our daughter to become the wonderful person she is!" (LVM, June 2013)
